Time to Think

Taking a day off, I try to calculate how many miles ive walked in the past week. And walking is probably not the most fitting word. My knee agrees that its been a lot. Maybe,a hundred and some miles, actually 273km to go about a week ago, I forget what day it is, to 95.3 to go as of yesterday, and today because I decided to take a "rest day".

Its a different atmosphere now that its less than100km. There are litterally busloads of people being dropped off and picked up. This town, portmarin, is about the size of Crouch,but they have a taxi line that you could find in Paris.

Some of the Pilgrims are resentful at the convenience and commercialism. People only really have to get 2 stamps in the credentials /passport for the last 100km to qualify for the Compostella. There are no "rules about how you do it, I guess. I met a nice German girl today that over the past 4 years she has walked different sections. This is much more common than I knew. She Says it never occurred to her to do the whole thing in one go.

I'm realizing just how unique a thing it is to do what I'm trying very hard to have done. I'm kind of proud.
